Let The Story Within You Breathe

I met a woman last week who told me she had once wanted to write something, but changed her mind because she had heard that the group of publishers she was thinking of working with would most certainly change too much.  So, she gave up.  When she told me that, it just broke my heart.  All I could think was, "How could you do that?" Then, I thought about it--not about giving up, but about why she was so determined not to change her voice.  Then, I understood.

Writers, like anyone who puts a lot of effort into something, can become paralyzed by fear at the very idea of someone changing what they feel they must say.  It doesn't have to be that way.  My job is to check your work for errors and make suggestions, but neither is done with the intention of changing your voice.  With every new story I read, I learn more than I could ever hope to learn in school, because there is more truth to be found there than anywhere else in the world.  Let me help you make your dream of finishing your book a reality.  It's time the world heard your voice loud and clear.
